The first session is primarily aimed at getting to know each other and a feel for what working together would be like. If you feel that we are a good match, we can decide on continuing to work together. However, there is no obligation to do so. What feels most important to me is co-creating an environment conducive for deep exploration of ALL your parts, particularly the ones that feel hardest to bring forward.
That depends entirely on your system’s needs. Based on my experience, weekly sessions for a period of at least three months can greatly support the client in creating significant shifts. Some choose shorter and less frequent periods, while others use therapy as a long term tool, which becomes their life philosophy and an integral part of their self-care and discovery. There is no single answer to this question, and I’m happy to discuss in more detail when we connect.
What you share with me is largely confidential.
Important to note, there are exceptions to confidentiality. Those being, if you express an intent to harm yourself or others, as well as report harm towards a child or an elder. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor I have a duty to warn in the above situations and would be required to notify emergency services to aid in assisting those in harm's way.
